What is Carbon Boost?

What is Carbon Boost?

In simple terms:

Carbon Boost is a liquid compost extract created from high quality compost. Carbon Boost is designed to deliver the core benefits of compost; improved soil biology, soil structure, and plant health, in a format that is practical, scalable, and cost-effective for farming.

‍

What is Carbon Boost used for:

Carbon Boost stimulate microbial activity resulting in the increased formation of complex carbons. Applying Carbon Boost is a viable method of carbon sequestration and is currently being used in numerous projects across Australia to generate ACCUs on farms.

Carbon Boost is also being used by farmers as an alternative to sythetic fertilisers.

‍

Why Carbon Boost is better then regular compost:

Traditional solid compost offers powerful benefits, but it’s often impractical on a large scale. High-quality compost is expensive, bulky, and difficult to transport and apply. It can take years for surface-applied compost to become biologically active in the soil, due to its water-repellent nature and the volume of rainfall required to unlock its soluble carbon compounds.

‍

Carbon Boost solves this problem by extracting the most valuable components of compost—its soluble organic carbon and microbial stimulants—and delivering them in a concentrated liquid form. This allows for:

  • 100x lower cost per hectare compared to solid compost
  • Rapid biological response, with effects visible in days, not years
  • Easy application through standard boom sprays, irrigation systems, or aerial spraying
  • Minimal equipment or labour required
  • Consistent results, regardless of rainfall conditions

‍

We turn one kilogram of compost, into a liquid that is 1,000 times more effective in delivering its biological benefits to the soil.

‍

Carbon Boost was developed by rethinking the fundamentals of compost use in agriculture. Rather than trying to scale a solid input that doesn’t fit broadacre systems, we focused on extracting and delivering only the compounds that matter most—efficiently, affordably, and without compromise.

How we make it:

The compost that we use to make Carbon Boost is created using the waste products from agricultural production. We source these waste products from the local area around Murrami. The high-quality compost is then processed into a liquid, that we call Carbon Boost.

‍

Chemical Analysis:

Below is a chemical breakdown of Carbon Boost:

Why doesn't Carbon Boost smell?:

We get this question a lot. People think that because Carbon Boost is made from compost, it will smell bad like compost. But this isnt the case, as John explains in the video below.

How do I use Carbon Boost?

How do I use Carbon Boost?

Application:

Carbon Boost can be applied using a standard boom spray, planes, drip irrigation, spray irrigation or direct injection. It is screened to 130 microns and has had zero blockages in all tested systems. Carbon Boost can be applied at any time, however we recommend applying the product when plants are growing, to capitalise on interactions between the plant and the microbes in the soil. Unlike other products Carbon Boost only needs to be applied once a year.

What to look for:

The first signs that Carbon Boost is working will be an increase in root hairs. You may notice increased biological activity, or changes to the soil structure.

‍

Storage and expiry

Storage and expiry

Storage:

Treat Carbon Boost like any other chemical. Carbon Boost should be stored indoors and away from sunlight. Exposure to sunlight will degrade the product and reduce its efficiency. If your Carbon Boost has been sitting for an extended period stir or agitate before use, to redistribute any settled sediment. Avoid leaving it in machinery overnight, as sediment buildup can lead to clogs.

‍

Expiry:

Carbon Boost doesn't go off or degrade with age. However, we recommend Carbon Boost we recommend using it within two years of purchase.

Fertilisers:

Carbon Boost is a highly adaptable product designed to enhance the efficiency of fertilisers. When mixed with fertilisers, either liquid or solid, Carbon Boost helps create conditions that reduce nutrient loss, ensuring more effective nutrient uptake and lowering overall fertiliser input without compromising plant availability.

‍

Herbicides & pesticides:

Carbon Boost has been tested with a wide range of herbicides and pesticides without any adverse interactions.  Its unique compounds improve herbicide absorption by modifying leaf behaviour, leading to better efficancy. While compatibility is generally high, we recommend mixing it only on the day of application to prevent chemical changes that may alter its effectiveness. Short-term mixing, within hours, poses no issue.

‍

Lime:

When used alongside finely powdered lime, Carbon Boost increases microbial activity, enhancing lime's reaction with soil acidity and improving overall lime application outcomes. In some cases, this increased biological activity may even reduce the need for lime.

‍

Water:

Carbon Boost can be incorporated into boom spray applications, allowing farmers to mix 30 liters per hectare directly into their spray solution, reducing the need for additional water and eliminating the need for multiple passes. This not only enhances efficiency but also saves time and operational costs.

For aerial applications using drones, helicopters, or planes, Carbon Boost’s optimal water content ensures smooth application without the need for additional water, significantly reducing take off weight and associated costs.
